Herpes Symptoms
Herpes symptoms oftentimes go unnoticed that is why most infected persons do not really know that they carry the virus. Statistically, ninety percent of the cases are not aware the they are infected with herpes.
Herpes symptoms may vary from one patient to another. There are some relatively mild in form while there are some who have severe herpes symptoms on its initial attack.
Initial Appearance of Herpes Symptoms
The length of time before the initial appearance of herpes symptoms may vary from one infected person to another. There are cases in which the a person who had exposure to the infected person may show symptoms of herpes just days after the contact. However, there are some cases, in which the person may develop the symptoms weeks, months or even years.
Meanwhile, there are some cases in which a severe outbreak may take place just days after the exposure to the virus. However, there are some people who may have mild symptoms to which mistakenly identify as just another rash or pimple.
During the initial appearance of herpes symptoms, a number of symptoms will appear. The symptoms may bring uncomfortable feeling or even pain. Some of the classic symptoms of genital herpes are sores and lesions.
Sores can be mild and may look like small pimples or blisters. The only difference is that herpes sores are filled with fluids and may take 2 to 4 weeks before it can really heal.
Aside from the sores, there are other herpes symptoms that may appear and affect the person.
Some of the herpes symptoms may include:
- Fever
- Swelling of lymph nodes
- Headache
- Burning sensation
- May feel pain while urinating
- Body pain which may mistaken as flu
Herpes symptoms can go from mild to severe but most of the time the person infected does not know that he or she is already infected. Some people mistook these symptoms as part of other medical conditions like:
- Yeast infection
- Rashes
- Insect bites
- Abrasions
There are some cases in which, people suspect that they have genital herpes but decide not to visit their doctors for fear or stigma.
However, at present there antiviral medications, which are given to patients in, order to treat the symptoms and there are also dating sites, which are open for people with herpes.
Symptoms of Recurring Genital Herpes
Genital herpes can recur any time and you may not know exactly when the recurring outbreak will occur. However, the good news in recurring genital herpes is that the symptoms can be milder in form in recurring genital herpes than its initial attack.
The symptoms of recurring genital herpes may still include the blisters with fluids, which may also have crusts, but these kind of sores will only last half the time of the initial attack.
The only problem of recurring genital herpes is that infected people may again mistake the symptoms as another condition as it may look like:
- Hemorrhoids
- Cluster of pimples
- Ingrown hair
- Cut from razor
- Bug bites
Determining your Herpes Symptoms
Determining your herpes symptoms is very important to avoid spreading the disease to your loved ones. However, determining the symptoms may not easy for you, it is important that you visit your doctor to have proper diagnosis of your symptoms.
Do not drink any antiviral medications, which are not prescribed to your condition. Aside from treating your symptoms, your doctor will guide you in proper care and protection, which you have to observe to avoid transmitting the disease.
