Herpes Signs
Herpes signs may vary from one patient to another. Most cases don’t even exhibit any herpes signs that is why they don’t know that they have contacted the herpes virus.
According to statistics, 1 in every 5 persons in the United States do not really know that they are carrying the herpes virus. The reason for not knowing the herpes condition is because the signs and symptoms of herpes are often mistaken to be a symptom of another condition.
The severity of herpes signs also vary from each patient that is why to make sure the diagnosis of herpes, culture test are often called for by the doctors.
Most common herpes signs which are associated with genital herpes may include:
- Blisters
- Lesions
- Swelling of lymph nodes
- Fever
- Headache
- Pain in urination
Oftentimes, the blisters, may look like a normal pimple that is why patients don’t normally take it seriously not until a severe outbreak of genital herpes happens. The lymph nodes in the groin area is often swelling and the person may experience burning sensation or pain while urinating.
Most of the time, the herpes signs are often unrecognized by the person unless he or she feels a severity of symptoms. The signs of herpes are not limited to the genital area.

Treatment of herpes is vey important in the initial attack to avoid further complications and for the patient to observe proper care and protection to prevent spreading the virus to another person.
When Herpes Signs Appear?
The appearance of herpes signs may vary from one person to another person. Majority of cases, is that herpes signs appear just couple of days after the person were exposed to the infected area. However, there are also some cases, in which the herpes signs are exhibited weeks, months or even years after the person is exposed to the virus.
Generally, the herpes signs in the initial episode is mild in form and thus the succeeding recurring stage is also likely to be mild in form. It is so mild that the patient may not even notice the appearance of herpes.
There are some people who have severe outbreak several days after they have contracted the virus.
Technically, if it is the initial stage, you may know if who is responsible for your herpes but if it is in recurring stage, it will be hard to pinpoint where did you contracted your oral or genital herpes.
Likewise, if you have multiple sexual partners, you may not know if to whom you contracted your herpes that is why it is recommended that you avoid multiple partners to lessen the risk of contracting the virus.
Management of Herpes Signs
Herpes signs needs immediate attention from the doctor. It is important that you visit your doctor if you observe any of the herpes signs. Your doctor will then likely to take your medical history to know if it is really herpes or another medical condition.
The doctor will then take a sample from you to culture it in the laboratory. If your test shows that you have herpes, your doctor will then prescribe you anti viral medicines to treat your symptoms.
However, anti viral medicines are really not the cure for herpes. The herpes signs may get healed but the virus stays in your body that is why protection is indeed important to prevent you from transmitting the disease to another person.
